The iconic Hull party Different Language celebrated its eighth birthday in the typically dark, smoky dungeon that is Gate No. 5, a venue which has established itself as an ideal habitat for underground music in Hull.

Italian duo Re-Up joined the party following an array of local talent initiated by Tom Gibbins’ hard-hitting tech-house set, Bourge’s characteristic heavy throw-downs and Different Language’s strong tide of bass.

The Italian duo have established a robust but nonetheless diverse discography, rightfully earning them their place at Amnesia’s Music On parties on Ibiza in August. The duo’s fifteen years of working together was evident throughout their set, as each thudding track was synthesised harmoniously, allowing a fluent transition of progressive house to transcend into the rolling, synth-littered basslines of tech-house. A biting aggression within the music was matched by an enthused crowd, shifting purposefully within the cocoon of red-tinted smoke.

Different Language is once again credited with showcasing one of house music’s upcoming stars, with more to follow in a summer which lays down an August day/night party with Fuse resident Rossko and none other than Desolat boss Martin Buttrich,

surely one not to be missed.
